In an effort to encourage more small businesses to give their employees the freedom to work where and when they’re most productive, independenceIT has launched a “Declare Your Independence” sales promotion. During this campaign new customers who sign up for independenceIT’s “cloud hosting” services will receive a free Apple iPad. Existing independenceIT customers are also eligible to win the hot new tablet PC if they refer a company that signs up as a new customer by Labor Day.

For more than a decade, independenceIT has helped companies harness the power of technology without the burden of owning it – effectively freeing business owners from the “tyranny of technology.” In practical terms, this means companies can give their employees remote access to all the applications and business data they need to do their jobs. With independenceIT, access is secure, business information is protected and preserved, and business owners can stay focused on managing their business, not their IT.

“We genuinely see ourselves as technology liberators,” said Tony Whitton, CEO of independenceIT. “We relieve companies of the burden of owning and maintaining their IT, and we give employees great flexibility in how they help drive the businesses for which they work. We see the Apple iPad as the ‘ultimate freedom machine’ and think this summer promotion will give small businesses just the incentive they need to test the waters with cloud computing.”

The concept behind cloud computing has been around for many years, but has recently taken off. In brief, it is a method for giving individuals remote access to computing power (e.g. storage) and applications (e.g. QuickBooks) on demand, enabling them to consume only as much as needed at any given time. The vision of cloud computing is that companies will consume computing resources the way they currently buy electricity or telecommunications services. Today, more than 100 small businesses rely on IndependenceIT to deliver their IT in exactly this way.

Independence IT has announced it has selected the winning photo of its “On the Road” photo contest from among the many creative shots submitted over the past few weeks. The winning picture was taken by Stephanie Klegarth. In her photo, Klegarth is seen with her laptop open sitting at a sunny campsite inside Breakneck Campground, Slippery Rock Creek, Pennsylvania.

“For more than a decade, Independence IT has given remote workers and road warriors of the world the ability to work where and when they choose,” said Independence IT CEO Tony Whitton. “Our ‘On the Road’ photo contest gave our customers and friends a fun way to demonstrate how they can stay connected – wherever their lives may take them.”

Independence IT launched the contest through its Facebook page, where it also announced the winner. Klegarth’s photo at the Breakneck Campground has won her a $500.00 American Express gift card.

Independence IT has announced it will return as a sponsor of Musikfest.  One of the summer’s hottest Lehigh Valley attractions, Musikfest 2010 will be held August 6-15 in downtown Bethlehem, PA.  The event is a pro-arts initiative of its parent organization, ArtsQuest, which aims to celebrate the arts and culture of the Greater Lehigh Valley, PA area.  By becoming involved with programs like Musikfest that foster a sense of community and culture, Independence IT is having a positive impact on the region.

Since its inception in 1984, Musikfest has become well-known for organizing fun-filled festivals for a great cause. Drawing artists from nearly every musical genre, Musikfest attracts a crowd of more than one million people to celebrate music and the arts together.  This year, the ‘fest offers more than 300 performances over the course of ten days on 14 different stages – 11 of which are free and require no admission ticket thanks, in part, to sponsors like Independence IT.  Confirmed acts include Lynyrd Skynyrd, Counting Crows, Norah Jones, Augustana, Adam Lambert and Martina McBride.  All proceeds from Musikfest are donated to a variety of nonprofit groups in the region, including The Banana Factory, ArtQuest’s community arts center and gallery in Bethlehem.

“At Independence IT, we’re pleased to again support Musikfest this summer,” said company CEO Tony Whitton.  “For more than a decade we’ve been helping small companies in the Lehigh Valley get the benefits of using technology to grow their businesses without the hassle of owning and maintaining it.  Sponsorship of Musikfest enables us to extend our involvement with the local community in a fun and meaningful way.”

By securely providing all the business applications an employee needs through “the cloud” (i.e. over the Internet), Independence IT helps companies give their workers the freedom to work where and when they will be most productive – in the office, at home, or on the road.

Allentown, PA (June 30, 2010) – Those attending the July 3 FC Sonic soccer match at Lehigh University’s Ulrich Sports Complex have a special gift waiting for them. Local cloud service provider Independence IT will be helping citizens of the Lehigh Valley celebrate their national pride by giving away free t-shirts emblazoned with the American flag to the first 150 people through the gate. The free “American Pride” t-shirts are the latest example of a long-standing tradition of local community involvement from Independence IT and its executive team.

For many years Independence IT chief operating officer Charles “Chip” Buck has been actively involved with the Soccer Association of the Lehigh Valley (SALV), where he current serves as a board member. Founded in 2007, SALV is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to developing Lehigh Valley soccer players and coaches, both on and off the field, with a special emphasis on exposing disadvantaged youth to the “world’s game,” and teaching youth how to succeed in life through soccer. To further its mission, in 2010 SALV formed the FC Sonic, a minor league soccer team to represent the Lehigh Valley in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), one of America’s most competitive leagues. Because of the fine example set on the field, FC Sonic coaches and team members can and will play a large part in promoting all SALV charitable efforts – from clinics to camps to community events.

“During this period of heightened global attention on soccer because of the World Cup tournament, we felt it was a great time to show both our support for the local community and our national pride with these free t-shirts,” said Buck. “It’s been a great season so far for the FC Sonic. We hope to see a great show of support for our local team and are pleased to be able to give our neighbors across the Lehigh Valley a way to celebrate our nation’s Independence Day holiday in style.”

This article was forwarded to everyone in our company by our COO. It is a warning about search engine results and the staggeringly huge amount of “poisoned links” that can be contained within the list. I thought it was important and wanted to share it with everyone.

It is amazing the amount of effort that people will put into trying to steal your information. If only they could take all of that energy and put it to good use and good deeds.
