Help with Spam in my Inbox
By tammy. Filed in Technology |Should I add my own email address to the trusted senders list within my Postini?
Our answer is NO.
A majority of spammers will “spoof” your own email address. This trick will make their spam messages appear as if it was sent by you; thus by-passing any spam-filtering engines. We have received many calls from end-users asking why they are receiving so much spam directly into their inbox and why is it not getting block by our Anti-Spam service? Only to find out, they trusted their own email address.
You may ask, “what if I forward an email to myself; won’t it be at risk of being blocked as spam?” No, when you are utilizing independence IT’s email infrastructure and send or forward an email to yourself, the email goes directly into your inbox and it is not scanned by the anti-spam management system. If you remove yourself from the safe senders list, you should see a dramatic drop in the amount of spam in your inbox. If you find that you are still receiving spam directly into your inbox, you should take the next step by adding your own email address to the blocked sender’s list. In most instances, you should not receive an external incoming email from your own email address.
If you have any questions on this matter, please contact IndependenceIT’s Customer Support at 610.366.0090 ext. 1. We will be glad to discuss this information in greater detail.
Thank you and have a spam free day!
